The golden eye settled on the grass-grown gulfs. The whole flocks play in the spaciousness of Caspian ‘rolls’, just near the wall of reed, in the quite backwaters. Rudd rod fishing is very easy but elegant and interesting. After you had thrown a lure in some place of 1-1,5 meters depth near the grass overgrowth, pinned a worm or a fly’s larva with a hook, wait for biting. A float shook and swam to the side. Undercutting! And the first fish shines with pure gold of scales and rubies of fins. The float didn’t have time to stand – a bite again. And again and again! Soon a tench will come, and a crusian, and may be a sazan will join them. You will not be bored.

You can fish the rudd not only with a rod but also with a very light spinning with small spoon-baits (¹0, ¹00), microjigs and microlures. Because this fish is gregarious and weights about a pound sometimes, it fights actively and thus fishing becomes a sport. A cat-fish, a sazan, a pike perch, a pike, a perch, an asp, an ide, a rudd, a Caspian roach, a tench, a crucian, a silver bream, a razorfish – you can’t see all at once and you feel giddy. And at the same time trusting luck even in the lonely corners of the delta of Volga means to deprive yourself of pleasure of creative intelligent fishing.
